June 2001 Lifecycles was invited to take part in a celebration of all things bike like at Baths 'The Wheel Thing'. So with a couple of tandems, bikes and a trailer, along with the pedal powered cinema we took to the streets.
The parade revolved through the fair city as part of the towns carnival in the company of the mighty crews from cycles maximus, recycle, rinkydink, and the cycle circus to name but a few of the illustrious company. Costumed up to the gunnels as usual - we painted grandmothers, wore inappropriate frocks, surfed on cunningly adapted bikes, and were generally as mad as lorries and as happy as fish.
Death was excusably concerned about the Biopirates steering, the funk fairy blasted innocent pedestrians with his bubble gun, the corporate fatcat prowled mercilessly and shouted into its invisible mobile, and the Bee and the mermaid oggled some seriously glam trailers and solar powered rickshaws. The festivities
drifted on into the night , when we contributed to the evenings entertainment
bysetting up the projector and showed 'undercurrents' and 'stop the
crop' to the assembled masses.
